Catanzaro (Catanzaro Province) is a town of 89,062 inhabitants, capital of the province and the region of Calabria.

Historic capital of the ancient province of Calabria Ultra for over 200 years, the city of Catanzaro is home to the University "Magna Graecia", the second university Calabrian number of members. In the summer months the Ionian coast from Catanzaro Soverato is subject to important tourist flows, especially youth, to the presence of numerous recreational facilities.

Catanzaro is known as the "City among two seas", as it is located in the isthmus of Catanzaro, which is the narrowest strip of land in Italy, where only 30 km separate the Ionian Sea from the Tyrrhenian Sea. This enables you to see at once, from the districts north of the city in some particularly clear days, the two seas and the Aeolian Islands. It is also called the City of the three hills corresponding to the three hills that are represented in the coat of arms on the hill of Saint Tryphon (now St. Rocco), the hill of the Bishopric (today Piazza Duomo) and the Castle hill (now St. John).
