Sommatino (Caltanissetta Province) is 28 km from Caltanissetta, alt. 359 m, on a ridge between the Rivers Salso and Gibbesi, area 34.7 sq km, pop. 8,262, post-code 93019, tel. 0922. Agriculture: cereals, citrus fruit, olives, wine grapes, fruit, honey; timber.

The Del Porto family founded Sommatino is 1507, 30 years after taking possession of the area. The fief later passed to the Lucchesis and the Lanza di Trabias.
