Sabucina (Caltanissetta Province) is a mountain about 8 km from Caltanissetta, where finds from different ages have been made: First Bronze Age rock-cut chamber tombs, an indigenous village village of a slightly later age (12-10 centuries BC) another larger village (constructed after the destruction of the first) and them after Hellenization by Agrigento, the acropolis and walls, a sanctuary, and further signs of repeated destructions and reconstructions.

Of interest: The Caltanissetta Regional Archaelogical Museum contains the richly interesting material from the excavations.

My latest book on CD is titled Sicily - A Reference for Researchers and is now available. With a file for each town (plus many other files), it relates the history of Sicily as reflected in the photos, records and festivals of its towns. It contains over 2500 text and photo files and can be ordered at CD order.
