Roccavaldina (Messina Province) is 36 km from Messina, alt. 320 m, in the northern Peloritani, area 6.5 sq km, pop. 1,265, post-code 98040, tel. 090. Agricultural economy.
The village developed at the foot of the castle, in the late Middle Ages, when it was a fief of the Valdina family. In the 18th century it was owned by the Arnao family; however the castle did not follow the fate of the fief and later became the property of the Nastasi de Spuches family.
Of interest: Palazzo Valdina; Old chemist's shop which displays an unusual collection of 16th century medicine jars.
