This list of Prisoner of War Camps, Italian Service Unit Camps, and Prisoner of War Hospitals is still being developed with new locations added as we work through the weekly reports.
The POW Camps in Missouri during World War II included:
Camp Clark, Nevada, MO (base camp)
Camp Crowder, Neosho, MO 64850, now Crowder College (base camp)
Fort Leonard Wood, MO 65473
Fort Leonard Wood, MO 65473 (PW Pat. Det., Italian Reg. Hospital)
Weingarten, MO
POWs were buried at Fort Leonard Wood Post Cemetery, Weingarten, and Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. The five Italians originally buried at Weingarten were moved to Jefferson Barracks before February 1947.
