Pettineo (Messina Province) is 166 km from Messina, alt. 300 m, in the western Nebrodi, on the slopes of Monte San Cuono, on the right bank of the River of Tusa, area 30.45 sq km, pop. 1,676, post-code 98070, tel. 0921. Agricultural economy.
It was a feudal town belonging to the Valguarneras and the Ventimiglias, whose castle, now in ruins, dominated the town spreading over the side of the hill.
