Pagliara (Messina Province) is 34 km from Messina, alt. 200 m, at the southern extremity of the Peloritani, on a rocky highland on the left bank of the Pagliara torrent , area 14.6 sq km, pop. 1,408, post-code 98020, tel. 0942. Agricultural economy.

In the Middle Ages it was a hamlet known as Palearia belonging to the Savoca fief, under the seignory of the Archimandrite of Messina.

Pagliara was part of the commune of Roccalumera until 1914.
