Motta D'Affermo (Messina Province) is 175 km from Messina, alt. 660 m, in the northwestern Nebrodi, on the northwest slopes of Monte Cuono, between the River Tusa and the Molinello dip, area 14.6 sq km, pop. 1,116, post-code 98070, tel. 0921. Economy: grapes, olives, walnuts, hazelnuts, cereals, prickly pears.

A feudal village mentioned in the census ordered by Frederick II. It was the domain of, among others, the Albamontes, the Bonajutos and the Castellis. It is also called Sparto, after the Coevobium of St Mary of Sparto.
