Fiumefreddo di Sicilia (Catania Province) is 38 km from Catania, alt. 62 m, on the northeast slopes of Etna near the source of the River Fiumefreddo, area 12.1 sq km, pop. over 9,400 , post-code 95013, tel. 095. Economy: extensive citrus fruit cultivation, paper industry, mills, wrought iron.

The present town was founded in the first half of the 17th century by the Gravina Cruyllas family, the Princess of Palagonia, in the ancient fief of Flumen Frigidum, on the site of the 16th century town which had belonged, with the fief to the Parisi family and to the Barons Lazzari.

Of interest is the Palazzo Diana (18th century) and the Palazzetto Palmieri (18th century).

Maria SS. del Rosario (Castello - suburb of Fiumefreddo di Sicilia)

On March 19 is the Festa of San Giuseppe.
