Acitrezza (Catania Province) is a suburb of Aci Castello. It is a fishing village on the Ionian Sea, 7 km from Catania.

One of my favorite places to spend the afternoon at the beach, looking out at the "needles" of lava thrown from Etna in the myth of Acis and Galatea.

Churches (Acireale Diocese) include the following:
San Giovanni Battista (Chiesa Madre)
S. Maria La Nova

June 24th is the Festa of San Giovani Battista.

My latest book on CD is titled Sicily - A Reference for Researchers and is now available. With a file for each town (plus many other files), it relates the history of Sicily as reflected in the photos, records and festivals of its towns. It contains over 2500 text and photo files and can be ordered at CD order.
